Hearts to Hearts Music

Connecting hearts through the power of music

Our Mission

At Hearts to Hearts Music, we believe music has the power to heal, connect, and uplift. Our mission is to provide adaptive music education to individuals with special needs and to support the families who care for them.

We offer weekly music theory lessons, beginner-friendly piano and singing pieces, and a supportive community designed to help every learner grow at their own pace.

Because music should be a bridge — from heart to heart.

Program Director and Music Teacher

Olivia Luan

Olivia is a passionate young pianist who began her musical journey at the age of four and currently studies with German concert pianist Markus Pawlik. She has performed at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore, Californa, and at Carnegie Hall in New York City;  won multiple national and  international music competitions; and appeared as a soloist with the Livermore-Amador Symphony. Beyond performing, Olivia believes deeply in using music to uplift others. Inspired by her three years of experience teaching music to a young adult with autism and his mother, she co-founded Hearts to Hearts Music to help bring joy, confidence, and connection to individuals with special needs. Olivia also enjoys science, dance, and playing the string bass.

Julianna Wong

Julianna Wong is a sophomore at Dartmouth College studying German, Religion, and Public Policy. Outside of the classroom, she works as a peer and community instructor for the Dartmouth Piano Exchange, sings in the Glee Club and Handel Society, and manages a private piano, voice, and music theory tutoring business that she started in 2022. Thus far, she has performed in seven countries and competed at the international level in venues ranging from Carnegie Hall in NYC to the East Helsinki Music Institute in Finland. Her love of music and belief in the transformative power of education came naturally from her mother and first-ever teacher, Dr. Chunli Xu, who is also a professional pianist and specialist in piano pedagogy.

Our
Story

Our Story

Hearts to Hearts began with a three-year journey in music therapy between a young adult with autism and his mother. Through patience, creativity, and the joy of music, they found connection, emotional expression, and newfound confidence.

Inspired by this transformative experience, two young musicians — cousins Olivia Luan and Julianna Wong — founded Hearts to Hearts Music to bring this same hope and opportunity to more families.

Their dream: to make music learning welcoming, encouraging, and accessible to all, especially neurodiverse and special-needs learners.
